The changing climate is undeniable, sustainability plans are popping up everywhere, and CO2 emissions must be reduced. At Tip de Bruin, we want to remain progressive not only in our fashion range but also in our sustainability efforts. In this blog post, you can read how Tip de Bruin is contributing to the sustainability of the retail/fashion industry.

Sustainable Distribution

Sustainability is a widely used term these days, though it's often misused. You can call something sustainable if it's environmentally friendly, resource-saving, or good for nature ( Taalloket, 2022 ). Tip de Bruin and its brands contribute to all three forms of sustainability.

To start with: The boxes we ship our online orders in are made from 100% recycled materials. This saves a significant amount of cardboard and raw materials.

Tip de Bruin also partners with Trunkrs as a parcel delivery service. Trunkrs' mission is to make parcel delivery more sustainable , for both people and the environment. This mission has been fueled by the rapidly growing e-commerce landscape. According to Trunkrs, 39% of Dutch online shoppers are concerned about the environmental impact of e-commerce. That's why Trunkrs is working hard to electrify its delivery service. By the end of 2022, they aim for all Trunkrs delivery vehicles to be 100% electric. Currently, Trunkrs minimizes its ecological footprint by driving short and smart routes.

Sustainable Brands

At Tip de Bruin, we sell over forty unique brands , but this blog post specifically highlights those committed to sustainability. Brands can contribute to a more sustainable future in various ways. One example is becoming Bluesign certified. Canada Goose and Peuterey are Bluesign partners, among others.

Canada Goose

First of all, Canada Goose . Canada Goose has been heavily criticized over the years for using coyote fur, but on June 24, 2021, the fashion brand announced it would stop using (real) fur in its products. Animal rights organizations saw this as a historic moment in the fight against the use of real fur in fashion. Canada Goose plans to eliminate real fur from its collections by the end of 2022. Furthermore, Canada Goose takes its environmental plans very seriously and even aims to achieve net zero CO2 emissions by 2025.

24bottles

The next sustainable brand sold at Tip de Bruin is 24bottles . 24bottles' main goal is to create a better future for future generations. They do this by supporting emission reduction projects, providing low-income smallholder farmers with access to clean and affordable energy, and contributing to the construction of sustainable infrastructure.

The largest project 24bottles is involved in is tree planting. They have planted nearly 10,000 trees in 11 different countries so far. This action has already captured over 2 million kilograms of CO2. Finally, 24bottles maintains the highest possible quality of its products, thereby delivering a sustainable product. Every time a 24bottles bottle is used instead of a plastic bottle, 0.08 kg of CO2 is prevented from entering the atmosphere.

Paul & Shark

Paul & Shark is an Italian luxury fashion brand that is strongly committed to sustainability . For example, Paul & Shark was the first company to achieve the Italian " Plastic-Free " certification. They also have other sustainability projects underway, such asSave the Sea , Seaqual , Shark Trust , Econyl , and many more. Finally, Paul & Shark also won the " Sustainability Award " in 2021. This award is presented to 100 Italian companies that excel in sustainability.

On Running

On Running is taking its sustainable entrepreneurship to a new level. On Running has adapted its entire branding to reflect sustainability . Previously, On had entirely black boxes, the production of which consumed a significant amount of ink. They've now switched to cardboard boxes with water-based ink. On has also launched its first 100% recycled shoe, the On Cyclon running shoe . Not only are the products produced with sustainability in mind, but On Running's distribution and shipping are also extremely sustainable. After all, why not give quality materials a second life?

The shoe boxes and packaging for socks and laces are all made from 100% recycled materials and certified by environmental organizations. The clothing packaging is made from 99.9% recycled materials. As the icing on the cake, On's Product Design team developed a plastic alternative made from industrial waste. Finally, to close the loop, all On packaging is recyclable.

Peuterey

Finally, the last sustainable brand featured in this blog post: Peuterey . Peuterey is part of the Bluesign System Partnership . Member companies must adhere to the strictest sustainability criteria, focusing on efficient resource use, environmental impact, occupational health and safety, and consumer protection. Furthermore, the Bluesign partnership guarantees product safety by eliminating toxic chemicals from the production process.

Besides the brands mentioned above, Tip de Bruin offers many more brands that are actively committed to sustainability. Examples include Drykorn and 7 for all mankind .
