In our previous blog post, we discussed the stories behind several new brands in our collection ( click here if you haven't read it yet) . Since we offer a total of seven new brands, this blog post focuses on those we haven't previously discussed! In this blog post, you'll read the stories behind Moschino , Karl Lagerfeld , and Bally .
Moschino Couture
The Italian fashion house Moschino was founded in 1983 by Franco Moschino. Moschino 's goal was to change standard fashion and disrupt the love for "elitist" fashion. He achieved this primarily through Dada and Pop Art (cultural movements). Pop Art is known for its immaturity, colorful graphics, and polka-dot figures. This was so alluring to Franco Moschino that he incorporated these elements into his designs. Moschino has always played with these art movements. These recognizable Moschino elements are, of course, reflected in the latest collection (see, for example, the shirt in the photo above). Curious about the entire collection? Karl Lagerfeld
Fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld was known worldwide for his ambition and distinctive style. He was a natural talent with an enigmatic personality and a passion for design. He famously said, "I design like I breathe"—"You don't ask to breathe—it just happens." Karl Lagerfeld became known for his original perspective on fashion and pop culture. Over time, he also focused on photography and art.
Lagerfeld was not only the creative director of his own signature fashion house, Karl Lagerfeld , but also oversaw the creative direction of the fashion houses Chanel and Fendi. Despite Karl Lagerfeld 's passing in 2019, his fashion house continues to exist and continues to design and release new collections. The brand's new collections are inspired by Karl Lagerfeld 's own minimalist design. View the most beautiful Karl Lagerfeld pieces at Tip de Bruin .
Bally
Bally is a luxury fashion house founded as "Bally & Co." in 1851 by Carl Franz Bally (1821–1899) and his brother Fritz Bally. The brothers started the brand in the basement of their parents' house in the village of Schönenwerd, Switzerland. The family business initially focused on the production of elastic ribbon.
During a business trip to Paris in 1849, Carl Franz wanted to buy a pair of lace-up shoes for his wife (a popular shoe at the time). Since he didn't know his wife's size, he decided to buy twelve pairs in different sizes. His wife had to try on one of them. Visiting the factory in Paris where the shoes were made, Carl Franz noticed that each shoe had a unique elastic closure. These elastic closures were similar to those produced by his family business in Switzerland. Inspired by the opportunity to create more jobs and improve the lives of the local population, he decided to expand his business and focus on shoe production. Together with his brother Fritz, Carl Franz hired designers. The Bally brand was born, all in the basement of his house in Schönenwerd. Only later did Bally also focus on clothing and accessories.
